THE EFFECTS OF BUDDHISM ON GHALIB

Abstract

Gautama Buddha's thoughts, ideas and teachings have had a profound effect not only on the minds of common people from different parts of the world but also upon great poets of all ages. Even great poet Ghalib was influenced by Buddha's thought and philosophy. In his poetry, he fully expressed Buddhists' opinion on philosophical matters such as the origin of the universe, the laws of nature, the nature of life, human greatness, the reality of life and death, atheism, nihilism and meditation. This is a testament to Ghalib’s intellectual and poetic greatness.
