Abstract

Urdu short stories in Baltistan have come a long way since the 20th century. The first short story emerged in the 1970s, and since then, this literary journey has continued. Baltistani writers have not only preserved cultural and literary values in their stories but also addressed social, political, and literary issues. The short stories written in Baltistan reflect the traditions and changes of the past and present. Literary magazines, journals, and associations have played a significant role in promoting Urdu short stories in the region. Renowned writers are also focusing on publishing their short story collections. This article provides an overview of the literary works of Baltistani Urdu short story writers, which showcase the region's culture, traditions, and social landscape, as well as experimental techniques and styles.
