Abstract

Mehboob Ilahi Atta was born in a small village called Monan in District Haripur. He had only studied till 3rd standard and then started working to make both ends meet. He was blessed with exemplary god-gifted abilities of poetry and started poetry at a very young age. He expressed his poetic skills in the form of Hamd, Naat, Quadriiliterals and poems written in the praise of the Prophet (S.A.W.W) and his companions and gained wide popularity for his Naatia Quadriiliterals. He was equally adept in Urdu, Persian and Arabic language. Besides, he successfully experimented in the genre of Ghazal. Atta’s poetry is an exhibition of utmost reverence, admiration and love for the Prophet (S.A.W.W). His work reflects a great sense of freshness and spontaneity. The way he has placed and used Quranic verses in various stanzas of his poems, is testimony to his artistic brilliance.
