Abstract

Every society has its own totems and taboos. Totem is worshiped in a society while taboo implies something forbidden or to be avoided. Sigmund Freud introduced these terms in his famous book. It is considered among Freud’s most dazzling speculative texts. This article deals with introductory discussions of these terms. The usages of totemism and taboos in Urdu literature are also part of this valuable article.
