TRAGEDY OF BANGAL FAMINE AND URDU AFSANA

Abstract

As we look into human history we may witness numerous tragic events which have inflicted pain and misery on humanity. These historical tragedies have affected every segment of life, especially the writers. The Tragedy Of the Bangal Famine has immensely effected the writers, Urdu Afsana is of no exception. We can witness numerous short stories (afsany)  were written under in the shadow of Bangal Famine and showing human plight. In these short stories (afsany) variegated effects of this tragedy were presented in which human suffering, and economic, social and moral effects are worth mentioning. This period of gloom and grief also got it’s presentation in Urdu Afsana.  This article is an endeavor to bring forth the effects of Bangal Famine on Urdu Afsana.
