Abstract

In the history of Urdu literature, Deccani literature has a special feature in the development of Masnavi's writing. "Kadam Rao Padm Rao" by Fakhruddin Nizami, "No Sar Har" by Ashraf Bayabani, "Ali Nama" Nusrati, "Khawar Nama" by Rostami, "Yusuf and Zalekha" by Hashemi gave the first impressions to Masnavi. In literature, perfection was considered art and Masnavi writing was considered to be the perfect art in poetry and literature.

Bahmani era, Adil Shahi era, Mughal Empire, all periods had a profound impact on Deccani literature. In Urdu literature, Wali Deccani is considered to be the first Sahib Dewan poet. Wali's literary works are multifaceted, his poetry highlights the customs and behavioral attributes of the era. The era of Wali Deccani was during the reign of Alamgir and there was political chaos and social and religious disturbances in Gujarat. But Wali Kept the cultural phenomena of India alive. Wali's main characteristic was that he strengthened the linguistic structure of the south and the north. Wali travelled to Gujarat, Ahmedabad, and Surat and described his journey in his Masnavis. Wali came to Delhi twice in 1700 during Aurangzeb's time and met Shah Saadullah Gulshan. The second journey took place during the reign of Muhammad Shah in 1722. The poetry of Vali Deccani traveled from South India to North India, and Urdu poetry got a new dimension. The themes of the ghazal changed. Travel took a special place in his poetries. Wali also used insight and vision while comparing the tradition of Deccani language and literature with the poetic mood of Delhi. And by adopting the new trend, he became the pioneer of the new tradition in Urdu history and literature. Wali is not only the pioneer of the modern tradition in poetic tradition, but the tradition of the poetic travelogue (Manzoom Safarnama) cannot be complete until Wali's poetic travelogue "Surat" is mentioned. He created forty-seven verses of this poem mentioning travel. The first condition for writing a travelogue is travel. For a travelogue, there is a continuity of events in addition to observational insights and scenery. Masnavi "Surat" has all the characteristics of a travelogue.
