Abstract

The Fundamental themes that augmented our Urdu Ghazal were of seclusion and separation, which were derived from Arabic and Persian Ghazal. From classical Ghazal to the end of 20th century Ghazal, the elements of segregation were addressed forcefully but during last two decades the modern Ghazal’s themes did not carry them with their earlier luster. During last few months the Urdu poetry written under Covid-19 is embellished with the shades of disunion and embarkation. So to say covid-19 poetry has various facets of detachment, division and separation. Today’s poet feasts his heart on despondency. This short article is comprises of the numerous elements which are found in classical Ghazal as well as in today’s Covid-19 Ghazal.
