Abstract

Aslam Siraj U Din is the modern fiction writer of Urdu language who has written less in quantity, but the quality of his writing is weighable. He has written only one short stories’ collection “Simr Saamar” and a novel “Talaash e Wujood Dar Atraaf e Chand. .Aik Koshish e Mehz” in the fiction stream. Both the fiction writings are praiseworthy due to the writing style, descriptiveness, thoughts, and the ideas presented in the text. The key feature of Aslam’s writings is his perfect weaving of mythological characters in the fiction. This article is based on the extensive study of the mythological references used in Aslam’s novel “Talaash e Wujood Dar Atraaf e Chand.. Aik Koshish e Mehz”. Usually, the mythological character used in a story is not fully revealed during that piece of writing because the story seems to be disrupted (i.e., it may switch to the story of mythological character rather than the current character of the fiction). But it is a factual need for a reader to have a sound knowledge of the mentioned mythology to enjoy the story and to get the writer’s point of view up to the optimum. Though a slight interpretation of a mythological character may be given in a story in which it is used so that the process of story may continue but the question that why the mythological character is used in the story, can only be fulfilled after having an extensive study of mythology. To meet this emergence, an extensive study of the mythological references used in novel “Talash e Wujood Dr Atraaf e Chand.. Aik Koshish e Mehz” is presented in this article.
